  Georgia 4-H held its annual Junior/Senior District Project Achievement (DPA) competition at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, Ga., on March 6-8. Georgia 4-H Project Achievement empowers young people with skills for a lifetime.

Rabun County community member Angel McCrackin is the 2026 recipient of the Philip Wright Award for her dedication to students and families through her leadership, service and advocacy. The parent volunteer was honored at the 25th Annual Philip Wright Award Ceremony in March.

Rabun County Schools dismiss early for water main valve fail

Classes at Rabun County Schools dismissed early on Tuesday, March 17, after a reported water main valve failed on East Boggs Mountain Road in Tiger. Brendan Thompson, general manager of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA), said the water main valve failed at approximately 8 a.m.

Area power outage in Clayton due to downed tree on Hwy. 441

Businesses and residences in parts of downtown Clayton experienced a power outage on the morning of Thursday, March 12 after a tree fell on a powerline on Ga. 15 at O’Reilly Auto Parts. The outage affected businesses on Highway 76 East and Highway 441. Around 10:50 a.m.
