Florida man faces nine charges following crash on Georgia 15 in Clayton

FAITH holds downtown Hope Walk for ‘Domestic Violence Awareness Month’

CLAYTON– The local nonprofit Fight Abuse in the Home (FAITH) and Mountain Judicial Circuit Family Violence Task Force coordinated a community Hope Walk in solidarity with those who have been affected by domestic violence to bring awareness to October as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Law enforcement personnel with Safe Kids Rabun conducted car and booster seat safety checks and car seat technicians were available to check seats for proper fit and installation.

Faith & Blue brings Rabun community together

CLAYTON– The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, the faith community and other law enforcement agencies came together on Oct. 8 to build relationships with community members by hosting a drive-thru food and diaper distribution at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.

Short-term rentals decision may have long-term effects

More than 200 people, including Rabun County residents, realtors, and property owners, showed up to voice their very strong opinions on the county’s proposed Short-Term Rental Ordinance during a public forum organized by Commissioner Scott Crane with Commissioner Kent Woerner joining.

No injuries reported in Rabun Gap structure fire

RABUN GAP-- No injuries were reported in a Rabun Gap structure fire Wednesday morning.  Rabun County Fire Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 7271 Wolffork Road in Rabun Gap October 19.  Stations 1,5 and 12 were dispatched to the fire at 8:32 a.m.

Richard Clark of Cleveland won The Mountain Traveler cover contest with his brilliant close-up photo of fall leaves. Clark is the owner of Strawbridge Studios, a school photography business. He has been taking school pictures of students around North Georgia since 1981.

Law enforcement investigating Sky Valley mail center break-in

SKY VALLEY– A break-in at the Sky Valley U.S. Postal Service center on Sky Valley Way is being investigated locally as mail and packages were reported missing at the end of September. Sky Valley Chief of Police Vaughn Estes said an incident was reported on the morning of Sept.

‘Pawsitively’ tired

CLAYTON– Reeves Furniture received a Pawsitive review after a local black bear clawed its way into the store overnight on Friday. The black bear, referred to as “Yogi” by Clayton Police officers, caused an estimated $6,469.97 in damages, according to the incident report.
