Lococo indicted by grand jury on attempted murder charge in September 2019 case

Grand jurors met in January and March sessions in the Superior Court of Rabun County to hand down indictments totaling 39 separate cases.
The January and March sessions each had different jury pools, with the January grand jury indicting 25 cases and the March grand jury indicting 14 cases.

Local candidates qualify for May 24 General Primary election

Qualifying for the May 24 General Primary election has ended as the local Rabun County races will each only have one candidate on the ballot.
The Rabun County Republican Party had five people qualify for local office, while no Democratic candidate qualified.

Trash pickup continues for Clayton City residents

Trash pickup will continue for Clayton City residents.
Clayton City Council members approved a bid from Central Waste to continue picking up household garbage inside city limits at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The rate for Clayton city residents who opt for garbage pickup will increase to $19.

Otto, N.C. man charged with DUI after Mountain City crash

MOUNTAIN CITY– An Otto, N.C. man is charged with DUI-less safe and reckless driving following a single-vehicle crash on Georgia 15 at George Eller Curve in Mountain City March 5.
Joshua Allen Caruthers, 33, was driving south on Georgia 15 around 7 p.m.

Rabun County among Ninth District Opportunity to receive federal funds

Ninth District Opportunity, Inc. has been awarded federal funds under The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program Phase 39 and ARPA-R.
Rabun County has been chosen to receive funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
