Rabun Republicans hold grand opening ribbon cutting

CLAYTON– The Rabun County Republican Party held its grand opening ribbon cutting for its new headquarters in downtown Clayton, 41 East Savannah St. April 14. The Rabun County Chamber of Commerce and Forward Rabun held the ribbon cutting and light refreshments were served.

A Rabun Gap woman was transported by Lifeflight to Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a crash on Ga. 15 at Billingsley’s Garden Center in Mountain City limits near Rabun Gap April 15.

Gainesville man charged with DUI, airlifted after 3-vehicle crash in Tallulah Falls

A Gainesville man is charged with DUI and other traffic charges and was airlifted following a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Tallulah Falls that resulted in serious injuries. The crash occurred on Ga. 15 just past Tallulah Falls dam.

Clayton Wastewater Treatment staff receives Georgia Rural Water Association award

CLAYTON– The City of Clayton Wastewater Treatment Plant Staff, Keith Owens, wastewater plant supervisor, and Clint Harbin, received an award from the Georgia Rural Water Association in appreciation for outstanding public service by the city of Clayton.

City places 60-day moratoriums on P.U.D.

CLAYTON– Clayton City Council members unanimously approved “a moratorium to pause any rezoning request to a P.U.D. development until the Planning and Zoning Board and City Council can agree and establish a step-by-step process for 60 days” at Tuesday’ city council meeting.

Clayton council approves housing rezoning

CLAYTON– A 91-unit development will be coming to Clayton after council members unanimously approved to rezone the 20-acre property located across from Clayton City Hall, 37 Bynum St./0 Holden St., from Residential Zone (R2) and Highway Business (HB) to Planned Unit Development (P.U.D.

Rabun County Sheriff’s Office kicks off Citizens’ Academy

TIGER– The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office kicked off the 2022 Citizens’ Academy Tuesday night with an introduction into the Office of the Sheriff from its origins to present day. “I love talking about the Office of the Sheriff,” said Sheriff Chad Nichols during the class.

Clayton city council members, mayor and new officials met Monday morning in a first-ever roundtable with department heads. The intent of the gathers, according to officials, was for those in charge of city departments to address their overall status.
