Mountain City Playhouse brings back memories with soft opening

MOUNTAIN CITY– Rabun County residents traveled back in time Saturday with the nostalgia of putting on their dancing shoes and heading to the Mountain City Playhouse with friends and family for an evening of buck dancing, clogging and bunny hopping.

SKY VALLEY– With the main entrance to the Sky Valley Country Club still temporarily closed to repair of a large culvert, motorists have opted for another entrance and exit into a majority of the town.

Station 4 Lakemont receives donation from 100 Club of Rabun County

LAKEMONT– Rabun County Fire Services Station 4-Lakemont/Wiley received a donation for its bravery from the 100 Club of Rabun County during a presentation at Station 4 Monday. Denny Webb of the 100 Club of Rabun County made the presentation to Firefighter/EMT Gordon Van Mol and Capt.

Cause of fire on Hwy. 246 not yet confirmed

The cause has not yet been confirmed for a brush fire that spread for acres along the mountains on the north side of Highway 246 in Sky Valley on the afternoon of March 4, according to Wendy Burnett, public relations director for the Georgia Forestry Commission.

She began the position in January 2009 and said she loves her job. She said the duties of her job are “nonstop” and the key to success is being able to multitask and prioritize tasks so everything gets completed in a timely manner.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office constantly bustles with excitement from phones ringing off the hook, papers rustling and exchanging hands, people walking in and needing help, beeps coming from police scanners and dings from emails with Open Records Requests.
