Mary Ellen Watts, 77, of Clayton, died Aug. 1 at Mountain View Health Care in Clayton. The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Jayne Morelli, age 58, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on July 29, 2019. Susan was a Christian and a member of the Catholic Faith. She was born the daughter of the late Edmund and Catherine Morelli, on May 21, 1961. She was a proud graduate of the University of Florida. Go Gators!

Jo Shipp Smith

Jo Shipp Smith, age 81, of Dillard, Ga., passed away on August 5, 2019. Jo was born the daughter of Mr. Phocian Shipp and Lela Vandiver Shipp on January 11, 1938. She attended Morgan County High School in Alabama and Jacksonville State University. She was an avid University of Alabama football fan.

Emily Irene Bynum Albright

Emily Irene Bynum Albright passed away on July 29, 2019.  A native of Rabun County, Georgia, she was born the daughter of the late Thad L. Bynum and Irene Powell Bynum of Clayton, Georgia.  She was the youngest of the four Bynum siblings, and was a graduate of Rabun County High School.

Marc Shane Whitmire

Marc Shane Whitmire, 53, of Tiger, Ga., died Friday, July 26, 2019 in Lakemont, Ga. Born Sept. 8, 1965 in Forsyth County, GA., he was the son of the late Charles Leslie Whitmire and Shirley Jean Whitmire. He lived most of his live in Rabun County.

Joseph Henry Grist

Joseph Henry Grist, 91, of Lexington, Va. died Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Augusta Health Center, surrounded by family. Born June 14, 1928 in Rabun Gap, Ga., a son of the late Thomas Mason Grist and Helena York Grist, he lived in Lexington for 55 years.

Julie Bleckley Speed

Julie Bleckley Speed, 80, of Homer, Ga. , died Thursday night July 25, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Kay Mayo in Dacula, Ga. She was the widow of John Lewis "Bud" Speed.  Julie was born March 3, 1939 in Rabun County, Ga. to the late Howell Bleckley and Cora Speed Bleckley.

Loraine S. Michael

Loraine S. Michael, age 93, of Roswell, Ga., peacefully passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at Seasons Hospice in Cumming, Ga.. In accordance with Mrs. Michael, she will be cremated. No services will be held at this time. Loraine attended Christian Worship Center in Suwanee, Ga.

Martha Ann Metzgar

Martha Ann Metzgar, 83, passed away on July 17, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Marie Cooke, brother John Cooke, and infant son, Andrew. She is survived by her husband, Dick (60 years), daughter Rev. Debbie Metzgar Shew (David), son Stephen and granddaughter Hanna Shew.

Julie Cunningham

Julie Cunningham, 62, of Cornelia, Ga., died Sunday, July 14, 2019 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Born in Rabun County April 6, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Floyd M. Finley and Bessie Ramey Finley. She was a homemaker and was a member of Carver’s Chapel Baptist Church.
