Bar W Rodeo riding back into Rabun for Independence Day

The Bar W Rodeo Company is coming to Tiger for another year of the Rabun Arena Rodeo this Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6.  Based out of Hayesville, N.C., the Bar W Rodeo company returned to Rabun County last year for two days of competition and American pride.

Lake Burton, Lake Rabun runs return this weekend

The Lake Burton Fun Run and the Rabun Ramble are set to take place this Saturday, July 5.  This Saturday’s running of the two races will be the 41st edition of the Burton Fun Run, and the 19th for the Rabun Ramble.

Local resident with ties to Braves weighs in on Atlanta’s season

I have always loved the Atlanta Braves, since they moved from Milwaukee to the present day. As I attended one of their late ‘60s games at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, I joined in singing the National Anthem which began each game.  I couldn’t help but add an “s” to the final word of the Anthem.

Buford in good company with Cats at gridiron summer padded camp

More summer action for the Rabun County High School football team arose last week.  The Wildcats, who have been at it for summer work since Monday, June 2, traveled to Buford High School where they joined the Wolves and other state contenders in a two-day padded camp.

It’s no question that senior guard and star point guard Huey Blalock has stolen the show over the last few seasons for the state-ranked Rabun County High School boys basketball team.

Pollock, TFS baseball hosts youth summer camp on the diamond

“If you get eight in a row, I will do 10 push-ups.”  That is what Tallulah Falls School head baseball coach Justin Pollock told his youth campers as they were fielding ground balls at last week’s TFS baseball summer camp.

TFS tennis camp deemed big success

urts this past week as Tallulah Falls School held a five-day tennis camp for local youth heading into grades fifth through eighth from Monday, June 9, to Friday, June 13.  Led by longtime head tennis coach and current TFS Tennis Youth Development Coordinator Randy Morris, the camp ran smoothly.

Yes, I’m the Braves’ good-luck charm

I will go ahead and say it, I’m definitely the Atlanta Braves’ good luck charm.  Since the completion of my column in last week’s Tribune, the Braves have won four of their last five games … woo-hoo!

Eagles add strong right hand to QB room

Another arm has been added to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School’s quarterback room.  Previously from Daniel High School (S.C.), Class of 2028 quarterback Grayson Clary made the move to Rabun Gap earlier this spring, adding depth to a room that still has three-year starter and Memphis commit Gavin Owens.
