Piggly Wiggly closing doors at end of month

Piggly Wiggly in Dillard announced that it will be closing its doors for good on Wednesday, July 31. “With a shortage of supply deliveries, rising cost of goods, and other factors, we have been unable to overcome these challenges.

Rabun County participates in Statewide Bible Reading

On Sunday, July 14 at 7:14 a.m., community members in Rabun County joined Georgia’s other 158 counties in the 6th annual Statewide Bible Reading. Community members gathered on the courthouse steps with Pastors Adam Wright, Jr.

Community support for MLMC keeps growing

Habersham EMC recently made a generous donation to Mountain Lakes Medical Center’s Back-to-School Health Fair, coming up on Aug. 8.

City of Clayton proclaimed a Purple Heart City

The City of Clayton is now declared a Purple Heart City after city council members passed a proclamation at the July 16 meeting. Clayton joins the cities of Mountain City and Sky Valley in the designation. Purple Heart recipients are nationally recognized each year on Aug. 7.

Blue Jean Ball raises $$ for Mountain Learning Enrichment

Mountain Learning Enrichment hosted the Blue Jean Ball, a fundraising event to raise money for the up-and-coming school in the Playhouse on Saturday, July 20. Attendees ate barbeque, danced to the sounds of Blue Ridge Lonesome, a local band, and participated in cake walks and a silent auction.

Public health talk event a success

The second quarterly Rabun County Board of Health Public Health Talk was a success as the community showed out for the educational event on Tuesday, July 16. “The second quarterly public health talk was well-attended with about 50 adults and 20 kids,” said Dr.

Clayton voters to see Brunch Bill referendum on November ballot

Voters within the City of Clayton will decide on whether to allow a “Brunch Bill” during the Nov. 5 general election. If passed by voters, it would authorize businesses in the City of Clayton that sell alcohol to sell alcoholic beverages by the drink beginning at 11 a.m.
