GriefShare Grief Support Group starting Sunday, Aug. 25

No matter what the circumstances, grief is a painful, confusing process. A GriefShare group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. At this 13-week support group program, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief.

Downtown hosts hundreds for Block Party & Cruise-In

Downtown Clayton was filled with hundreds of people on Saturday, Aug. 10, for the Block Party and Cruise-In. It was the third Block Party of the year and brought over 500 people to Clayton.

DAY ONE IN THE BOOKS

Rabun County children returned to classes on Tuesday, Aug. 6, as the primary, elementary, middle and high schools were very busy getting back into the routine for the 2024-2025 school year. “We had a fabulous first day!” Superintendent Dr. April Childers said in an email to The Clayton Tribune.

Cause of residential fire under investigation

The cause of a residential structure fire located at 8857 Highway 76 West in Clayton on Saturday, Aug. 3 is under investigation by Rabun County and the State Fire Marshal. Rabun County Fire Stations 3, 10, 11 and 12 were dispatched to the residential structure fire at 10:56 a.m.

Sept. 3 write-in candidates’ deadline for Nov. 5 election

**This article has been updated since press time** Rabun County voters will head to the ballot box on Election Day Nov. 5 to make important decisions about who will represent them on the federal, state and local levels.

Victory Home gets four new AEDs thanks to funding from LBCA Foundation

Victory Home, the Christian, nonprofit men’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility established in 1959 and located near Tallulah Falls, recently received a donation from the Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) Foundation that allows them to purchase four Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
