Story wins BOE Post 5 write-in election

This year’s Nov. 5 election made history locally as there were no candidates who qualified listed on the ballot for the Post 5 Board of Education seat. Instead, for the first time in at least 20 years, three qualified write-in candidates ran for the post.

County keeps SPLOST going with new projects

Rabun Countians showed out to the polls in large numbers for the Nov. 5 General Election.
The county-wide Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) passed with 6,262 voters choosing “Yes” and 3,694 voting “No.

K9 Doug retires from Rabun sheriff’s office

After seven years of dedicated service to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), 8-year-old K9 Doug has retired.
Sgt. Brandon Hyer, K9 trainer for the K9 Program and investigator with CID, was K9 Doug’s Handler.
