Republicans cut ribbon on new headquarters

It was a great “Red Wave” turnout on Thursday, Aug. 22, for the Rabun County Republican Headquarters Grand Opening & Ribbon-Cutting held at 41 Education Street, Clayton. Rabun County GOP is a “Non-Profit Member” of Forward Rabun/Rabun County Chamber of Commerce.

11 straight millage rate rollbacks for BOE

For an 11th consecutive year, the Rabun County Schools System has rolled back its millage rate which, in turn, avoids a proposed tax increase. After its approval at the Aug. 22 monthly school board meeting, the millage rate for 2024 will be 7.3450. In 2023, the millage rate was 8.

2025 Ramshackle road closings confirmed

Ramshackle is projected to return in 2025 as one of Clayton’s four locked-in downtown events that will include street closures. In its inaugural introduction on June 1, Ramshackle which promoted local business and music, drew hundreds to Clayton.

Speakers give the ‘low’ down

The Rabun County Republicans’ “Low Country Boil” at the Civic Center Pavilions in Clayton on Aug. 24 had various speakers during the evening event.

Rabun shows off at arena

The Rabun County FFA Alumni Livestock Shows were held on Aug. 22, 23 and 24 at the Rabun Arena. On Aug. 22, the goat and lamb shows were judged. On Aug. 23, it was the cattle. Then on Aug. 24, the pigs were judged.
