Calling all kids and teens! The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia Teaching Kitchen proudly presents “Creative Cooking: Learning to Use What’s In Your Kitchen!” Local Abby Jackson donated $1,500 for these summer classes for kids.

Moccasin Creek State Park employee wins award

CLARKESVILLE– Amy Speed, the administrative assistant at Moccasin Creek State Park, recently won a statewide Customer Service Award from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The Rabun County native has worked at the park on Lake Burton since 2011 and has been with DNR since 1996.

Joseph of the Bible sings and dances his way into Rabun County

Rabun County area theatergoers are in for a major musical treat, as one of America’s most-performed musicals opened in Dillard on Thursday, May 30. Ten performances were scheduled — Thursday-Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. from May 30 -June 1 and also this week on June 6 -June 8.

Rabun County Public Library Summer programming to be busy

All programs at the library are free and open to the public. The library’s summer reading program is open to all ages. Participants log reading time in minutes using paper or the Beanstack app. Every week, registered participants can win prizes. After 10 hours, kids get fast food coupons.

Inaugural downtown event kicks off summer season

Hundreds of people filled the streets of Downtown Clayton as the town came together for the inaugural Ramshackle event as the kickoff to the summer season Saturday, June 1. The event brought locals to town as well as visitors from all around to Rabun County.
