Sheriff Nichols faces sex-related charges

Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on Violation of Oath of Office and two sexual charges related to an ongoing investigation. While under investigation, the charges exclude Nichols, 45 of Clayton, from operating in his role as sheriff.

Early voting for June 18 runoff election starts Monday locally

Early voting for the Republican General Primary runoff begins next week as incumbent Sheriff Chad Nichols faces challenger Mark Gerrells June 18. Advanced voters can cast their ballots in person Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rabun County commissioners presented a Resolution of Appreciation for Andy and Deborah Hunter, owners of Andy’s Market, during the May 28 regular meeting. The local grocery store closed after over 40 years of service to the community.
