Georgia recognizes Retired Educators Day

Clayton Mayor Kurt Cannon proclaims Sunday, Nov. 5 “Retired Educators Day” in Clayton. This day honors the many men and women who dedicated their lives to educate and encourage the youth of Georgia. Georgia Retired Educators Association began in 1958.

Providing Directions to Halloween

3,000 seek out candy treats

Rabun County is known for its community involvement and that certainly was on display Monday evening at the Rabun County Recreation Department. An estimated 3,000 turned out for the recreation department’s 10th annual “Trunk Or Treat” event.

Walmart evacuated due to smoke scare

Walmart in Clayton was evacuated Monday afternoon as emergency personnel were dispatched for a fire inside the Vision Center. Rabun County Fire Services was dispatched on Oct. 23 to the 1455 Highway 441 South location at 4:51 p.m.

Rabun County responds as mutual aid in North Carolina fatal crash

Dillard Bluegrass Festival proceeds help 13 organizations regionally

The 26th Dillard Bluegrass Benefit Festival brought a toe-tapping bluegrass lineup and beautiful weather to the city of Dillard Aug. 4 and 5 this year.

Dunkin’ Donuts in Clayton held its official ribbon cutting and grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 30. Dunkin’ is a Forward Rabun/Rabun County Chamber of Commerce Silver business member.

Crowds enjoy successful Sky Valley Fall Festival

Weekend adventurers followed the Sky Valley Hay Bale Trail as the city’s annual fall festival saw a turnout of large crowds during the beautiful blue-sky day Saturday, Oct. 21. “The festival was a huge success.

Clayton city council candidates debate issues

Ahead of the Nov. 7 election, Clayton City Council candidates debated their positions during a public forum sponsored by The Clayton Tribune, Rabun County Coalition for Good Government (RCC4GG), Rabun County Democratic Party, and Rabun County Republican Party on Oct. 11.
