Students at Rabun County Schools once again tested the top in the state as they exceeded in many subjects during Georgia Milestones testing. Assistant Superintendents Kelly McKay and Matt Remillard gave a student achievement presentation for all grade levels during the Aug.

Congressman still seeking answers for Mountain City

U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde continues to seek information for a Rabun County community. “The Mountain City citizens deserve answers and we are going to get them answers,” Clyde told The Clayton Tribune in reference to what is next for the residents of the county’s second largest city after their U.S.

Qualifying continues for Tallulah Falls special election

Qualifying in the Tallulah Falls special election continues until the close of business on Friday to fill the vacant seat of councilperson Tom Tilley who resigned. Tilley’s term on the Tallulah Falls City Council is set to expire in December 2025. The qualifying for Tilley’s seat began at 9 a.m.

Mountain City fire ruled arson

The cause of a fire at a Green St. property in Mountain City Sept. 1 has been ruled as arson, according to the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire. The fire destroyed a vehicle and damaged a metal shop building, John F.

Family Resource Center is seeking partners in giving campaign

Strengthening families in Habersham and surrounding counties is the mission of Family Resource Center (FRC) of Northeast Georgia, and the center needs financial partners to continue the programs that help families flourish. Leigh Johnston is president of FRC’s board of directors.

Labor Day in Rabun County marks the end of summer

The Fall season is fast approaching as Labor Day weekend festivities wrapped up in Rabun County this past weekend. Many people flocked to fun events as the last holiday celebration of the summer.

Local Artists at State Capitol

Rabun County artists Libby Mathews and Peter McIntosh, presented their artwork to Gov. Brian Kemp and Georgia’s First Lady Marty Kemp at the State Capitol last month. The exhibit is a collaboration between the Office of the Governor and the Georgia Council for the Arts.

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee opens its 120th academic year with 675 strong

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School started the first day of the 2023-2024 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 23, welcoming 675 students in PreK through 12th grade. Rabun Gap is serving more students than ever from the local area and around the world.
