LBCA Foundation donates funds for new mattresses at Victory Home

[Clayton, GA] – The Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) Foundation donated a $9,250 grant to Victory Home, a faith-based addiction recovery center located in Tallulah Falls. The grant was used to purchase 30 new mattresses to provide adequate sleeping conditions for men in the residential program.

Arrest made following vehicle pursuit into Habersham

A man is in custody following a vehicle pursuit Monday that traveled into Habersham County before the suspect lost control of the vehicle and spun out. Charles Austin Lawrence, 36 of Elm Grove, La., was arrested and booked into the Rabun County Detention Center Aug.

Multiple agencies assist in murder investigation

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and multiple other agencies assisted in a murder investigation involving a deceased human body located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest Aug. 7, according to the RCSO.

Clayton city council votes 3-2 to roll back millage rate

Clayton City Council members voted in a 3-2 motion to adopt the 2023 rollback millage rate of 7.476 at Tuesday’s meeting. Council members Woody Blalock, David Cross and John Bradshaw voted in favor of the motion while Amanda Harrold and Althea Bleckley opposed. The millage rate of 7.

Rabun County Fire Services works structure, camper fires

A structure fire on Aug. 8 at 454 Luther Watts Rd. and a camper fire on Aug. 10 located at 1455 Highway 441 South caused significant damage to both residences. Rabun County Fire Services reported in their weekly report they were dispatched to Luther Watts Road in reference to a structure fire.
