The inaugural Rabun County First Responders Banquet drew 425 to the civic center to honor those who protect and serve. The Aug. 31 evening also was a night to remember those who have been lost.

Races to be contested after week’s qualifying

The City of Clayton and Town of Tallulah Falls have contested races for the Nov. 7 election. The other municipalities will not have elections because the exact number of candidates qualified for the posts. For the City of Clayton, two council seats are being contested.
