GAINESVILLE, GA. – Patients of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) can expect improved, safer patient outcomes as well as reduced costs thanks to leading training practices that recently received national recognition.

Firefighter/paramedic gets new heart valve in new robotic surgery performed in Georgia for first time

GAINESVILLE, GA – A Habersham County firefighter/paramedic is back on the job after getting a new heart valve in a robotic surgery that was the first of its kind ever done in Georgia.

Sky Valley City Council members were sworn into office during Tuesday’s first meeting of the year. The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 16 but had to be postponed due to a lack of quorum and potential inclement weather.

Anderson proposes new LOST tax for Rabun, other Georgia counties

Georgia Rep. Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia) is working to help resolve Habersham County’s age-old tax squabble over Local Option Sales Tax (LOST). Anderson dropped a bill Tuesday that would exempt sales and use taxes collected for educational purposes to be exempt from the 2 cent local sales tax cap.
