SKY VALLEY– Hundreds of visitors and Rabun County residents traveled through the Sky Valley Hay Bale Trail and headed to Georgia’s highest and coolest city for the Sky Valley Fall Fest Saturday, Oct. 15.

Voters head to polls early in record numbers

Early voting began Monday and the Rabun County Elections Office already has seen one of its highest turnouts ever with 800 registered voters casting ballots early in-person. Additionally, 145 paper ballot votes already have been mailed back into the elections office from the 649 mailed out.

FAITH holds downtown Hope Walk for ‘Domestic Violence Awareness Month’

CLAYTON– The local nonprofit Fight Abuse in the Home (FAITH) and Mountain Judicial Circuit Family Violence Task Force coordinated a community Hope Walk in solidarity with those who have been affected by domestic violence to bring awareness to October as “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Law enforcement personnel with Safe Kids Rabun conducted car and booster seat safety checks and car seat technicians were available to check seats for proper fit and installation.

No injuries reported in Rabun Gap structure fire

RABUN GAP-- No injuries were reported in a Rabun Gap structure fire Wednesday morning.  Rabun County Fire Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 7271 Wolffork Road in Rabun Gap October 19.  Stations 1,5 and 12 were dispatched to the fire at 8:32 a.m.

Richard Clark of Cleveland won The Mountain Traveler cover contest with his brilliant close-up photo of fall leaves. Clark is the owner of Strawbridge Studios, a school photography business. He has been taking school pictures of students around North Georgia since 1981.
