Rabun County Democrats held a meet-and-greet community event with local party representatives and Georgia State Senate Post 50 Candidate Paulette Williams Oct. 14 at the Rock House in Clayton. The group members proudly hold campaign signs and several visitors stopped by to chat with Williams and party members about the Democrat platform and upcoming election, for which early voting is happening now.

Megan Broome/The Clayton Tribune. A Georgia Power utility power pole was taken out on Hiawassee Street after it was struck by a red 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Oct. 14. The single vehicle crash resulted in no injuries, but the road was closed for a period of time following the crash.

The Sky Valley Police Department and investigations division of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office worked together to investigate break-ins that occurred at the end of September. The investigation yielded two arrests of a mother and son from Florida.
