Property values increase in Rabun

Rabun County property tax values have increased about one percent after the Rabun County Board of Tax Assessors approved the 2020 Tax Digest at their meeting last Thursday.

Clayton discusses hazard pay for employees

CLAYTON-- Hazard pay for city employees as part of funds received from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was discussed among Clayton City Council members at their meeting Tuesday.

Rabun lagging in census response

Rabun County residents are encouraged to complete the 2020 Census.  Rabun is lagging behind other counties in regard to participation rate in the census, according to Kent Woerner, Rabun County Commissioner and Chairman of Rabun County’s Complete Count Committee.

N.C. earthquake felt locally

SPARTA, N.C.-- An earthquake near Sparta, N.C. last Sunday was reportedly felt by many Rabun County residents.  The magnitude M5.1 earthquake struck at approximately 8:07 a.m. about two miles southeast of Sparta, N.C., according to the U.S. Geological Survey website.

Loggins awarded Support Personnel Scholarship

Erin Rebecca Loggins, a kindergarten paraprofessional at Rabun County Primary School of the Rabun County Public Schools, has been selected to receive the PAGE Support Personnel Scholarship. The scholarship is given each year by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation.

Class of 2020 has their moment in the spotlight

CLAYTON—The Class of 2020 finally had their moment on center stage Saturday, capping off one of the most successful--and unusual—years in the history of Rabun County High School.
