Local residents are concerned about a proposed change to U.S. Forest Service rules that some say would eliminate public input on decisions about timber and land management. The Forest Service proposed in June to revise its National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations.

Rabun named Mountain Education Charter High School Site of the Year

TIGER— The Rabun County site of Mountain Education Charter High School was recently awarded Site of the Year and had a dinner celebration for faculty and staff at their school in Tiger on Monday.

New teachers, staff ready for start of school year

TIGER— The 2019-2020 school year has officially begun for students in Rabun County and the new school year welcomed new educators ready to share their wildcat pride. Met with new superintendent Dr.

CLAYTON— It was all about Elvis at the Rabun County Civic Center on August 2 and 3 for the 16th Big E Festival and Elvis Tribute Artists Competition. The festival was produced by Joni Mabe, the Elvis Babe.

COLUMN: Camping on the river with Dad

We found ourselves in the same place we’d been dozens of times before. But this time was different. My dad and I set up camp, got ourselves some cold beverages and found a shallow spot to sit in the river.  Although it was July, the water was cold.
