CLAYTON— Summer is soon coming to an end, and with the county’s 200th birthday celebration continuing, Clayton is hosting a Labor Day weekend inaugural “End of Summer Celebration” with fireworks and live music on Saturday, August 31.

Clayton council approves tax hike

CLAYTON— Clayton City Council members passed a motion to increase the millage rate to 8.7685, or 8.769 rounded up, for the FY 2020 budget in a 3-2 vote at the Clayton City Council meeting on Tuesday.

Rabun aims to even series vs. Bremen in Erk Russell Classic

TIGER — When the Rabun County football team traveled to Statesboro to open its regular season at the annual Erk Russell Classic last year, it had a lot to endure. Bremen’s defense kept the game gridlocked at 10 and thunderstorms delayed the contest on two separate occasions.

TIGER — The Rabun County football team rang its victory bell for the first time this season. Gunner Stockton threw four touchdown passes and ran for another as the Wildcats scored on all five offensive possessions and rolled past Franklin (N.C.

PREP ROUNDUP: Tallulah Falls hosts Rabun County for cross country meet

CROSS COUNTRY The Tallulah Falls cross country team hosted Rabun County and Peachtree Ridge for a three-man, 6-mile relay last Thursday. TFS’ Chris Geiger (5:15, 6;13), Grey Bourlet (5:33, 5:27) and Evan Prince (5:10, 5:35) won the boys’ relay with a total time of 32:44.

Rabun Gap expands athletic training services

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee has expanded its sports medicine staff and space to enhance services for the growing number of student-athletes on campus.  Jackson Roper will begin as assistant athletic trainer this year alongside Head athletic trainer Mark Green. A native of Franklin, N.C.

CLAYTON—Special Rabun County Superior Court Judge Albert B. Collier last week named a mediator who will attempt to resolve differences between the city of Clayton and other municipalities and county government over a Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) agreement.
