"For the safety of our students and staff, Rabun County Schools will be closed Friday, Feb. 21, 2020 due to potential hazardous road conditions," according to April Childers, superintendent for Rabun County Schools.  Students are not required to work from home.

CLAYTON— Clayton City Council members unanimously passed a motion to approve the first reading of the short-term rental ordinance, opting to not read the entire ordinance aloud, at their regular meeting on Tuesday.

City approves alcohol permits for events

CLAYTON— Clayton City Council Members approved a one-day alcohol permit for the Rabun County Civic Center for a performance by Malpass Bros. on March 14 at their regular meeting on Tuesday. They also approved one-day alcohol permits for Rotary Casino Night on April 18 and the Fur Ball on May 30.

The county’s computer system was recently hit with what was thought to be ransomware, according to Darrin Giles, county administrator, in a phone interview Monday. Ransomware is a type of malicious software, or malware, designed to deny access to a computer system or data until a ransom is paid.

Barker to head Rabun County Baptist Association

The Rabun County Baptist Association (RCBA) voted, at their quarterly meeting on Feb. 6, to extend a call to Rev. William (Bill) F. Barker to be Associational Missionary, for the 18 Southern Baptist churches and missions of Rabun County.
