Girl Scouts Troop 10186 Arbor Day 2025 Tree Planting for Keep Rabun Beautiful

Linda Scofield, on behalf of Keep Rabun Beautiful, approached Troop Leader Carrie Radcliffe about planting a tree in the local community for Arbor Day. The Daisy grade-level group was planning to do some beautification in the Spruce Creek Community in Tiger, Ga.

Rabun native tills decades of gardening memories

Every year, Rabun County native Joey Davenport tends to his garden at his home on the east side of Clayton. Growing in his garden this summer are cabbages, watermelons, okra, beans, yellow squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes and tomatoes, among many other delightful fruits and vegetables.

Sky Valley celebrates Independence Day in true ‘cool’ red, white and blue fashion

The City of Sky Valley was bustling with activity from locals and visitors who flocked to Georgia’s highest and coolest city for family-fun celebrating Independence Day last weekend. The Saturday, July 5, celebration was part of the city’s annual patriotic holiday event.

Independence Day is Friday, July 4, and there are many fun happenings in Rabun County this weekend to celebrate the birthday of the United States of America. Join The Dillard House for its annual Independence Day celebration on Friday.

Twice as pleasing to the eye

North Georgia Community Players find ‘Treasure’ is the kids

Doesn’t every kid dream of becoming a Caribbean pirate? North Georgia Community Players Creative Director Foy Tootle thought so and gave kids the chance to join two pirate crews in the search for “Treasure Island,” presented at The Cowee School in Franklin, N.C., June 28.
