Summer in Northeast Georgia is a great time for camping, attending a fun festival or planning a day trip for hiking or biking. If you have a photograph that represents this beautiful time of year, it could be featured on the cover of The Mountain Traveler’s summer 2025 edition.

Satolah firefighters move into their new digs

More than 20 years after the Satolah community began looking for a piece of land for a new fire department, Rabun County Fire Services Station 8 recently moved into its new home off Highway 28. The new station is located at 2664 Highway 28, just a quarter mile up the road from the old station.

Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest officially terminates burn ban order

The Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest has officially terminated the burn ban order that was instated March 27. The ban was implemented in response to heightened fire danger regarding the wildfire in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area.

TFS plans for success with Southern Association of Independent Schools re-accreditation committee

Tallulah Falls School hosted the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) re-accreditation committee. They met with parents, students, alumni, faculty, and staff to formulate plans for the school’s success for the next five years.

Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Oconee County Emergency Services report missing hikers located

(Walhalla, SC)-- The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and Oconee County Emergency Services are reporting two missing hikers were located the afternoon of Sunday, April 6. Carrell Wayne Fowler, 77, and Sharon Kay Bramlett, 68, were located on April 6 around 12:30 p.m.
