Forward Rabun Youth Leadership truly ‘empowered’ with local visit

Forward Rabun’s Youth Leadership group concluded its final community visit of the year last week, as the group toured Rabun’s Mathis Dam and the Terrora Power Plant. Georgia Power played host to the group as Local Manager Jeremy Spradlin showered the students with the finest of hospitality.

Crews keep battling Warwoman wildfire

Crews with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service continue battling a wildfire in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area. The fire is located in the Chattooga River Ranger District and referred to as the “Big Ridge Fire,” according to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service.

Rabun Little League kicks season off with exciting Opening Day ceremony

Rabun County Little League (RCLL) held its annual Opening Day ceremony to kick off the youth baseball season on Saturday, March 22.

Services use 15,000 gallons of water to contain fire

An early afternoon fire during a Red Flag Warning this week required emergency personnel to control its spread. Rabun County Fire Services Station 1 was dispatched at 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, for a brush fire on Clayburne Street at Highway 441 in Clayton.

Wrong-way driver hit with DUI charge

A Commerce, Ga., man has been charged with DUI-less safe and driving on the wrong side of the roadway following a three-vehicle crash on Ga. 15 at Tiger Connector Friday, March 21. Steven Shane Keyros, 37, was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center with the charges on March 22 at 3:22 a.m.

Businesses celebrate Georgia Ag week with children’s activity

Georgia is home to a large Agriculture industry and we in Rabun County are blessed to have many local businesses who provide locally grown food. Bringing awareness to the community about the importance of agriculture is vital.
