Rabun County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy Jorka officially retired from her career during a special reception held at the sheriff’s office Sept. 8. K9 Jorka is 8 years old and has been a working member of the sheriff’s office since late September 2017.

Qualifying in the Tallulah Falls special election continues until the close of business on Friday to fill the vacant seat of councilperson Tom Tilley who resigned. Tilley’s term on the Tallulah Falls City Council is set to expire in December 2025. The qualifying for Tilley’s seat began at 9 a.m.
