Commissioners approve $28.3 million budget

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve the FY 2024 budget in the amount of $28,391,121 during a special called meeting.
At a June 15 meeting, Rabun County Board of Education members voted to approve the FY 2024 budget in the amount of $38,930,471.

A two-vehicle crash at Ingles Wednesday morning resulted in an overturned Jeep and charges for a Sylva, N.C., man.
Jose Gomez Gonzales was arrested and charged with no license; failure to yield; and improper left turn, according to the Clayton Police Department.

Thirty Rabun County fifth and sixth grade 4-H’ers attended 4-H Summer Camp at the Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, Ga., during June 5-9.
Students got to enjoy the cooler temperatures while climbing a wall, zip lining, and tubing down the Chestatee River.

Rabun County graduate, Patton, has made successful career in music industry

Born and raised in Georgia, Marlon Patton, is the son of Rabun County veteran filmmakers Bart and Judy Patton.
Patton is a New York-based drummer and music producer/engineer hailing from a long line of drummers dating back to his grandfather, Phil Patton, who toured the country in the big band era.

The Rabun County Public Library Summer Reading Program is in full swing as many fun and educational activities are scheduled over the next couple of months.
The Summer Reading Program kicked off May 31 with an Ice Cream Sundae party that went right along with this year’s theme, “All Together Now.
