Lake Living magazine seeks traditional recipes

Does your family have traditional holiday recipes passed down from generation to generation? Did your grandmother have a fabulous fudge or divinity recipe? Does someone in your family make homemade fruitcake every year, or does someone make traditional appetizers for holiday gatherings?

Artists, craftsmen featured at Painted Fern Festival

The Painted Fern Festival held this past weekend, Sept. 25 and 26 at the Rabun County Civic Center, is the premier members art show of the North Georgia Arts Guild (NGAG).  Over 35 artists and fine craftsmen were featured at this year’s show.

Georgia elections director tours new Rabun County Board of Elections facility

CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Board of Elections Office hosted new Georgia Elections Director Blake Evans at its new facility Tuesday.

Clayton, county can't agree on Service Delivery Strategy

Yet again Rabun County government and the City of Clayton could not come to terms on settling a state-mandated Service Delivery Strategy. The latest no-go came in a Sept. 9 letter from Darrin Giles, Rabun County administrator to Mitchell Baker, Clayton’s attorney. It was in response to an Aug.

Clayton council approves city management software purchase

Following a Sept. 14 work session discussion whether to purchase new software to better manage city departments, council voted to approve the purchase at its Tuesday regular monthly meeting. The decision was not without some on council expressing concern over the cost of the software modules.

Clayton council rolls back millage rate

Clayton residents will, in fact, see a change in their city taxes next year. But instead of keeping the millage rate at 8.769 mills, the current rate, Clayton City Council in a 3-2 split decision approved a tax rollback to 8.566 mills.

Activists continue cleanup in Stekoa Creek

Stekoa Creek is a site to see in Rabun County for travelers passing through on Highway 441. Although parts of the Chattooga’s free-flowing waters might be enjoyed by adventure seekers, Stekoa Creek has a long history of polluting the National Wild and Scenic Chattooga River.
