Library recognizes domestic violence awareness month

CLAYTON  — Fight Abuse in the Home (FAITH) teamed up with the Rabun County Public Library to recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month with an informative booth in the lobby of the library.

Clayton council OKs raise for city manager

CLAYTON-- Clayton City Council members voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a 10-percent raise for City Manager Michael Esposito. The raise was approved after meeting in closed session to discuss personnel and litigation following the regular city council meeting.

Clayton water, sewer fixes have city owing over $1.5 million

While the City of Clayton has obtained a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the city also recently received a $1 million water facilities loan from the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority [GEFA], approved in November 2020, with funds made available in August 2021.

Clayton council hears water line replacement plans

The City of Clayton will be using a recently obtained $750,000 Community Development Block Grant  to install a new 12-inch water main along Old Highway 441 from the Booster Station located near Rabun County Golf Course to the north end of Leaning Chimney Drive.

Tallulah Falls town council denies rezoning request

TALLULAH FALLS-- Tallulah Falls Town Council members voted unanimously last Thursday to deny an application to rezone a Single Family Residential Property (R1) to Business District (BD). The application was submitted by J&D Irvin Holdings, LLC, who plan to establish short-term rentals on 1.

Advanced voting starts in Rabun

CLAYTON-- Advance voting for the Nov. 2 election began Tuesday and several Rabun residents made their voices heard at the polls.  The Rabun County Board of Elections Office saw 42 people vote early Tuesday, according to Tammy Whitmire, Rabun County elections supervisor.
