Stacy Fountain-United States Army

Born and raised in Rabun County, Stacy Fountain had the desire to serve in the military since he was about 12 years old. Fountain entered the United States Army in the Delayed Entry Program in June 1990. After graduating from Rabun County High School, he went to Fort Leonardwood, Mo.

John Bradshaw didn’t have any doubts when he decided to go into the United States Marine Corps after graduation from Rabun County High School.

Serving in the United States Army was “a true honor” for Rabun native David Cross. Cross served in the military from 1989-1993 as an artillery repairman. Cross was born and raised in Rabun County. He said his father and grandfather both served in the military.

Rabun County Fire Services training heats up

LAKEMONT-- Rabun County Fire Services recently held live fire training at their Station 4-Lakemont-Wiley Training Facility. The training is part of mandatory training for all Rabun firefighters.

Clayton city manager contract passes in 3-2 vote

A Brookhaven, Ga., man was recovered at the bottom of Tallulah Gorge on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Sky Valley passes $1.2 million budget, 15.6080 millage rate

SKY VALLEY — Sky Valley City Council members voted Oct. 26 on a FY 2022 budget $1,259,477 budget and a 15.6080 millage rate. This is an increase from the FY 2021 budget of $1,121,273 because of a rise in property tax assessments, but the millage rate will remain the same as it has been since 2019.
