Trout hatchery reopens after renovations

A massive renovation effort at the Burton Trout Hatchery culminated last Thursday in a grand re-opening of the facility off Georgia Highway 197. The hatchery is one of three state-operated trout hatcheries that helps produce more than 1 million fish each year for stocking public waters.

Rabun residents vote on county-wide TSPLOST Nov. 2

CLAYTON — Election Day is Nov. 2 and anyone registered to vote in Rabun County, whether in city limits or unincorporated areas, will have the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) on their ballot. If it passes, this will be Rabun County’s first TSPLOST.

Rabun sheriff's office seeking information to locate fugitive

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the location of Dalton Randy McKay, who has active felony arrest warrants following an investigation related to overdoses in Rabun County, according to a statement on the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

Suspect pulls AR-15 in road rage chase, wrecks in Hall County

An armed man fled a road rage incident Monday before wrecking his car in Hall County and being tracked down by Georgia Troopers. Just before 4 p.m. Monday, a BOLO alert was issued for a black Chrysler 300 after an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm.

Marching Wildcats net superior ratings at Pike invitational

The Rabun County Marching Wildcats competed in the Pike County Marching Invitational last Saturday in Zebulon, Ga. The band received superior ratings in all captions and were named the first runner-up in its class.

The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia held a spooktacular event Oct. 21 as families came through the Haunted Bridge at the covered bridge shopping center and kids dressed in Halloween costumes were given bags of candy.
