John Cornell Gullett, 82, of Rabun Gap, Ga., passed away on Monday, Jan. 27 at Mountain View Medical Center. The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dr. Peter Slowen, M.D.

Dr. Peter Slowen, M.D. whose 40-year psychiatric practice in Paris treated both Expatriate Americans and Parisians with a Freudian style of therapy not widely practiced in the United States, died on January 16th in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was 75. His brother, the attorney W.

William “Bill” Crumley

William “Bill” Crumley, age 83, of Rabun Gap, Ga., passed away on January 15, 2020. Bill was born the son of the late Lloyd Joseph Crumley and the late Virginia Ramey on January 16, 1936 in Habersham County, Ga. Bill lived in Clarkesville, Ga. and Wiley, Ga. before moving to Rabun Gap.

Emma Sue Free Thurmond

Emma Sue Free Thurmond, age 75, of Rabun Gap, Ga. passed away on January 17, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born February 20, 1944 the daughter of the late Harvie D. and Susie Wilson Free.

Geneva Miller Carpenter of Chatsworth, Ga. passed away January 10, 2020 at Fellowship Home, Milledgeville, Ga.  She was 95 years old. Geneva was born July 8, 1924 in Winder, Ga. to the late Leatus (L. R.)  and Emily Miller.

Clinton Alexander “Alex” Roane

Clinton Alexander “Alex” Roane, 86, of Clayton, Ga. passed at his home with family at his side. Alex was born the son of the late Lewis Edward Roane and Martha Elizabeth Justus Roane. He was a lifelong resident of Rabun County.

Jimmy Ford McRee

Jimmy Ford McRee, age 85, passed away Jan. 10, 2020 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. He was born on Dec. 13, 1935 in Jefferson, Ga. to Ford and Doncile Veneble McRee. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a bridge inspector.

Mary Lorraine Hamby Corbin

Mary Lorraine Hamby Corbin, age 75, of Clayton, Ga. passed away on January 10, 2020. She was born the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Hamby and Ruby Williams Hamby on March 3, 1944. In her professional life she worked for Empire Manufacturing for 35 years.
