Wildcat boys split weekend contests

Seeds are still undecided for next week’s Region 8-AA tournament after the Rabun County boys split league games last weekend. The Wildcats lost last Friday to visiting Union County, and rebounded the next day to win at Monticello.

Ladycats batter Union, win three

A battle for the Region 8-AA tournament top seed is brewing after the Ladycat dribblers crushed Union County and Monticello last weekend, and trounced Social Circle Tuesday night. Rabun County improved to 12-1 region and 22-1 overall with the three routs, the only blemish a Jan.

Difficult 2020 slate awaits Wildcat football

Playoff-tested programs, four new opponents and four South Carolina foes highlight the Rabun County High 2020 football schedule revealed last week.  The defending Region 8-AA champion, Rabun will have six home games, and four altogether against South Carolina teams.

Lee Shaw is new Lakeview Academy head coach

Lee Shaw is back in coaching.  The former Rabun County head football coach, who announced his retirement in December 2018, was hired for the same position last week at Lakeview Academy in Gainesville.

RCHS boys win two, even 8-AA record

Fueled by four reaching in double figures, a Region 8-AA win Tuesday at Elbert County was the Rabun County boys’ third in four games and leveled their league record at 5-5. All of those three victories have come on the road, including a four-point verdict last Friday at Banks County.

Ladycats win twice, rise to 19-1

The Ladycats went 16-of-18 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and 28-of-33 overall Tuesday in a key Region 8-AA win at Elbert County, their third straight since their only loss two weeks ago. Rabun County (19-1 overall, 9-1 region) also brought home a win from Banks County last Friday night.

Eagle wrestlers win big at tourney

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee varsity wrestling team placed fifth out of 15 teams last Saturday at the highly competitive Johnson Stamey Mill Town Invitational at Pisgah High School in Canton, N.C. All nine Rabun Gap wrestlers finished in the top six.

RCHS Cheerleaders take in Citrus Bowl experience

The Citrus Bowl was not only part of the New Year’s Day college football lineup, but also a memorable opportunity for the Rabun County High cheerleaders. Through their work at a South Carolina summer camp, they earned the chance to perform in the pregame festivities in Orlando, Fla.
