RCHS also scored 84.1 on Content Mastery; 76.6 on Progress; 38.9 on Closing Gaps; and 79.6 on Readiness. The CCRPI scores were based on the 2021-2022 school term.

Rabun schools score better, but seek continual improvement

Rabun County and the state have shown score improvements in the 2023 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for Content Mastery, Progress and Readiness. “We are pleased with our CCRPI scores but are not satisfied,” Superintendent Dr. April Childers told The Clayton Tribune.

Rabun County saw a lot of growth and change during 2023 that shaped the community in many ways. Lack of affordable housing in the county continues to be a hot-button issue for many citizens and public officials.

Downed tree causes road blockage for over four hours

Old Highway 441 South at Dunlap Street was blocked for over four hours on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, due to a tree in the roadway. Notifications from the Rabun County 911 Center were sent out to the community via the CodeRED Emergency Notification System.

State Fire Marshal’s Office investigating two blazes in Rabun County

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating two structure fires that occurred within 40 minutes of each other at 118 Angel Lane in Lakemont and 414 Dan Crane Road in Clayton on Dec. 18, 2023. Rabun County Fire Services confirmed both fires were a total loss.
