Sky Valley City Council members were sworn into office during Tuesday’s first meeting of the year. The meeting was originally scheduled for Jan. 16 but had to be postponed due to a lack of quorum and potential inclement weather.

Anderson proposes new LOST tax for Rabun, other Georgia counties

Georgia Rep. Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia) is working to help resolve Habersham County’s age-old tax squabble over Local Option Sales Tax (LOST). Anderson dropped a bill Tuesday that would exempt sales and use taxes collected for educational purposes to be exempt from the 2 cent local sales tax cap.

Martinelli indicted on charges related to high-speed pursuit

A grand jury handed down six indictments in Superior Court of Rabun County on Jan. 4. Isadora Moura Martinelli was indicted on offenses fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer-two counts; hit and run; reckless driving; and obstruction of an officer, according to the True Bill indictment.
