Sky Valley celebrates the life and service of Bob Powers

Sky Valley celebrated the life and service of long-time Sky Valley Building Inspector and City Marshal Bob Powers at Tuesday’s city council meeting with a proclamation in his honor. Powers passed away at the age of 87 on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2022. He was an Army veteran.

Driver faces hit-and-run, other charges after fleeing crash scene

A Mableton, Ga., man faces hit-and-run and numerous other associated traffic-related charges following a single-vehicle crash on Wolffork Road near Ward Lane in Rabun Gap April 11 that injured a Seattle, Wash., man. Myles Elliott Bradley, 45,was traveling west on Wolffork Road  around 10:43 p.m.

City of Sky Valley holds first meeting at new City Hall

SKY VALLEY– Sky Valley city council meetings now have a new location as Tuesday’s meeting was the first in the newly renovated city hall location.

Becoming future scientists may be in their ‘genes’

GenSol Diagnostics, a local animal genetics testing company, hosted seventh grade science students from Rabun County Middle School for a field trip to learn more about genetics. Forty-two students visited the laboratory on Feb. 14 with their teachers Jacob Bennett and Ryan Backer.

Piedmont University Natural Science students share research at conferences

DEMOREST, GA -- Piedmont University Natural Science students have been presenting their research at conferences all over the Southeast. Rhylee Wittrock and Imani Vincent shared their research at Confluence 2023, Georgia Adopt-A-Stream's Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Conference.

The Georgia District Anchor Club received a Helmet Matching Grant from Pilot International for a 2023 Georgia District Anchor Convention project. Through this grant, the Georgia District Anchor Club received 25 high quality helmets to combine with the helmets they purchased.
