Commissioners Rock now on display at Rabun County Historical Society

A surveying monument dating back to 1819 known as “Commissioners Rock” is now on display at the Rabun County Historical Society after it was documented and replaced in August 2022.

Wildfire burns 9.3 acres after mobile home power pole collides with power line

DILLARD– A wildfire on Bettys Creek Road near Colony Road in Dillard burned approximately 9.3 acres Wednesday, April 19, after the power pole on a mobile home that was being transported collided with a power line. Rabun County Fire Services Station 5 was dispatched around 3:37 p.m.

Scaly Mountain Women’s Club sponsors scholarships

Scaly Mountain Women’s Club sponsors eight scholars in the Scaly/Sky Valley Fire District who are in good standing and currently receiving funds. New scholar, Reid Wheeler, is from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and plans to attend High Point University in High Point, N.C.

Rabun County resident wins UGA award

LRA, LBCA join together on wake boat legislation

The Lake Rabun Association (LRA) and Lake Burton Civic Association (LBCA) have joined together in efforts on statewide legislation that would establish a buffer for certain activities involving wakeboarding and wakesurfing on the public lakes.
