Problems seen for narrow roads, new mailboxes

Mountain City officials still wait on a response from the U.S. Postal Service about the future of their now temporarily closed post office and status of mail delivery. However, Mayor Grace Watts told council members Tuesday evening that some of the new mailboxes recently erected because of lost P.

State Sen. Hatchett receives ‘Legislator of the Year’ Award

State Sen. Bo Hatchett was recognized as the “Legislator of the Year” for the 14-county-wide Republican Party 9th Congressional District at the party’s annual banquet and awards ceremony recently. The 9th Congressional District Convention was held April 14 in Flowery Branch, Ga.

Guest artist honors environment and tradition through handmade works

TIGER– Rabun County High School students brought inspiration for the environment and Mayan culture through artwork in the classroom April 21 as Spanish teacher Scarlett Shaffer and art teacher Amy Jarrard teamed up for a hands-on learning activity with guest artist Javier Silverio.

Inaugural Dinglerfest brings folk art and music to Dillard

DILLARD– Dillard was the place to be for all things involving folk art Saturday, May 6, as crowds of visitors showed out to the inaugural Dinglerfest. The event featured many exhibitors showcasing their beautiful handmade creations including folk art, pottery, paintings and much more.
