End of Public Health Emergency Declaration

ATLANTA – The federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) declaration expired at day’s end on May 11. Now that we have safe and effective vaccines, ample testing infrastructure, and most people have some level of immunity due to vaccination or infection, COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency.

City of Clayton plants tree for Arbor Day

Officials from the city of Clayton work together to plant a Baldcypress tree near the covered bridge at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia in Clayton Friday, April 28 for Arbor Day. The tree is native to the area and is a great habitat for wildlife. It can grow 60-80 ft.

Box truck overturns on Highway 246

A box truck that was being rented to haul music equipment overturned on Highway 246 just past Sky Valley Overlook in Macon County, North Carolina, Monday, May 1. First responders were dispatched to the crash around 1:15 p.m.
