'Carl Butler Day' is declared in Clayton

CLAYTON-- Carl Butler came to Clayton in 1996 and hit the ground running as a businessman and community advocate.  And his contributions to Rabun County have not gone unnoticed.

Early voting begins Monday for runoff elections

CLAYTON-- Early voting for the January 5 general election runoff begins Monday.  The state runoff for Public Service Commissioner was combined with the runoff for two United States Senate seats, said elections supervisor Tammy Whitmire recently.

'Operation Santa,' holiday delivery dates announced

CLAYTON-- It's the season of giving and Rabun residents are feeling generous as high volumes of packages travel through the Clayton Post Office every day.  "The volume is outrageous right now," said Postmaster Charles Clay.  He said that postal workers begin work around 5:30-6 a.m.

CLAYTON—Rabun County officials warned last month that the Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant (LRWTP)—which supplies water to Clayton and surrounding areas—is being pushed to the “breaking point” by an unusually high demand for treated water from the city.

COVID-19 cases are rising again in Rabun

CLAYTON—Rabun County reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, the most in a single day in nearly three weeks, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. In the last two weeks, a total of 87 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported for Rabun County.

Camp Creek Rd. fire ruled arson

LAKEMONT-- A fire that heavily damaged a multifamily dwelling in Lakemont on Tuesday was ruled arson by the State Fire Investigations Unit, according to a statement from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.
