Hurricane Zeta made landfall near New Orleans last Wednesday as a Category 2 hurricane.
But by Thursday morning, it still packed enough punch to knock out power to almost every home in Rabun County.

Meth seized, two charged

RABUN GAP-- A drug bust in Rabun Gap on Oct. 21 led to the arrest of two individuals charged with trafficking of methamphetamine and possession of controlled substances, according to a news release from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

A structure fire in the Persimmon community on October 31 is believed to be caused by a generator, said Rabun County Fire Services Assistant Chief Justin Upchurch in a statement Tuesday.
Rabun County Fire Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 1600 Cat Gap Rd.

Record number of early voters in Rabun County

CLAYTON-- Early voting ends tomorrow, and Rabun County residents have turned out in record numbers for early voting to cast their vote for the 2020 presidential election.
As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Rabun County had voted 57.41 percent of registered voters.
