$500 reward offered for info on theft of county signs

CLAYTON-- The Rabun County Marshal’s Office is offering a reward for information about the theft of 80 signs on Warwoman Rd. and in the Chechero community on Sept. 5. “We have secured the money to offer a $500 reward,” said Rabun County Marshal Tony Galloway.

Rabun officials hear update on hotel-motel taxes

CLAYTON-- Tourism plays a significant role in the economic development of Rabun County.  A portion of hotel-motel taxes collected by the cities Clayton, Dillard, Sky Valley as well as the county goes toward this tourism development.

Clayton council sets sights on food truck ordinance

CLAYTON-- Clayton City Council members discussed adopting a food truck ordinance at Tuesday’s city council meeting.  City Attorney Mitch Baker presented a sample ordinance taken from Villa Rica, Ga.  He said he went through and changed the names and some language to cater to the city of Clayton.

Tallulah Falls council still pondering short-term rentals

TALLULAH FALLS-- No decision has yet been made by Tallulah Falls Town Council members about the fate of 24 lots on property intended for Short-Term Vacation Rentals (STVR).

Sheriff's office distributes food to over 300 families despite heavy rains

CLAYTON-- Over 300 families were supplied with food last Saturday when the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and local churches for a food distribution event.

Chapel of Sky Valley celebrates 40th anniversary

SKY VALLEY-- The Chapel of Sky Valley held a 40th Anniversary event and special church service on Sunday to celebrate the history of the Tom McClure Memorial Chapel.  The chapel is located at 817 Sky Valley Way.

Jones to remain on ballot for sheriff

CLAYTON--Mark Jones is still a qualified write-in candidate for sheriff running against incumbent Chad Nichols. The Rabun County Board of Elections voted unanimously on the matter after a hearing at their meeting Wednesday.

Clayton counters offer for water/sewer services

CLAYTON— The city of Clayton made a counteroffer Tuesday to the Rabun County Board of Commissioners that would transfer ownership of their water and sewer infrastructure contingent on terms that would resolve the ongoing Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) dispute.
