Board of Education recognizes top employees

TIGER— Rabun County Schools Employees of the Month for December were recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, January 16. Each school votes on employees of the month and coworkers make remarks about why that person was chosen.
The Rabun County Historical Society and county archives are housed in this building at the corner of Church and Hiawassee Street in Clayton.

RCWSA moves into new office/shop building

RABUN GAP— After five years of saving and many months of construction, the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority has moved into its new office-shop building and held its first meeting of 2020 on Tuesday, January 14. The building is located at 1650 Yorkhouse Rd., Rabun Gap.

Food Bank agrees to repair culvert on Chechero

CLAYTON— The culvert at the intersection of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and Chechero Street, what’s been an ongoing controversy between the Food Bank and the city of Clayton, might be one step closer to being repaired.

City disputes county water bill

CLAYTON— The balance due on water bills for the city of Clayton and the city of Tiger sewer bill caused heated debate among City Council members and the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) at the Clayton City Council meeting on Tuesday.

New Sky Valley officials looking forward to 2020

SKY VALLEY— The city of Sky Valley swore in a new mayor and council members at their council meeting on Tuesday, and the elected officials said they are looking forward to working together for the citizens of their city in the sky.

Jailer, Deputy of the Year recognized by Sheriff's Office

Detective John Murphy and Detention Center Officer Jeremy Gallagher both went into law enforcement because they wanted to make a difference and help people. That commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed by their peers, who selected Murphy as Deputy of the Year and Gallagher as Jailer of the Year.
