The Rabun County Election’s Office began mailing out absentee ballots for the presidential preference primary on February 4, and the opportunity to submit an absentee ballot rather than traveling to the polls is open to everyone.

Officials say you can learn to protect yourself from scammers

CLAYTON— Do you know how to protect yourself from being scammed? Anyone can be affected by fraud and Rabun County Bank teamed up with the Rabun County Library for a lunch and learn on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to give tips on how to spot fraud and how you can prevent it from happening to you.

CLAYTON— The Rabun County Library will be holding a “Passport Day” on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where patrons can apply for a passport book, passport card or both.

CLAYTON— Feeding people is something that Inger Smith has done for over 30 years, and as the new teaching kitchen manager for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia she hopes to “be the good” as a hub of good will for the people in Rabun County and the mountain region.

  CLAYTON— The packed courtroom at the Rabun County Courthouse erupted in cheers and applause on Tuesday as audience members witnessed a unanimous vote by Commissioners at their meeting to adopt a resolution officially proclaiming Rabun County as a supporter of Second Amendment rights.

Public hearing on forest land to be held February 13

CLAYTON— Rabun County residents will have the opportunity in a public forum set for Feb. 13 to express their opinions on the potential sale of United States Forest Service Land in the county, a topic that has been a heated point of contention among citizens for months.

CLAYTON-- The event for new and expecting mothers provided education, health information and free diapers and wipes for community members. All of the diapers were collected in a drive organized by Lacy Carter along with other residents.
