BOE recognizes top school employees for January

TIGER— The Board of Education recognized the Rabun County School System Employees of the Month for January 2020 at their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27. Marty Dixon, transportation director, began by introducing Natasha Ramey as the transportation employee of the month.

Rabun County Schools held their yearly Rabun Idol competition, and the final performance was on Friday, Feb. 28 in the Fine Arts Building at Rabun County High School.  Judges were Justin Spillers, Allen Blair and Scott Mazarky. MC for the night was Kaylin Gragg.

City Hall security is heightened after incident

CLAYTON— Visitors to Clayton City Hall will now have to be buzzed-in and state their purpose for being there as city officials recently installed increased security measures.

Qualifying begins March 2 for November ballot

Qualifying for the November 2020 election begins on Monday, March 2 and concludes at noon on Friday, March 6. The hours for qualifying run Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon.

Sky Valley tables vote on new police vehicles

SKY VALLEY— Sky Valley City Council members tabled a motion that would decide whether to obtain new police vehicles for the city at their meeting on Tuesday. Council members Moody Barrick and Bill Oliver were not present at the meeting. Sky Valley’s police vehicles are currently Tactical Subarus.
