With bright blue skies and cool water, there’s nothing quite like summer on one of Northeast Georgia’s beautiful lakes. Lake Living magazine is looking for photos that represent this scenic time of year at the lake.

Are you hearing periodical cicadas in Rabun County?

Remember the ruckus created last spring by emergence of The Great Southern Brood of periodical cicadas? Well, another batch of cicadas, this one a 17-year brood, will be showing up soon or already have arrived.

Support Foxfire at 17th annual Heritage Days fundraiser coming June 6 and 7

Celebrate folklife traditions and support local nonprofit Foxfire during the 17th annual Heritage Days on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Foxfire Village Museum, 98 Foxfire Lane, Mountain City.

Sky Valley passes proclamation for National Public Works Week

Local agency selected for state protocol

Local nonprofit Fight Abuse in the Home (F.A.I.T.H.) has been selected by the State of Georgia to help develop a medical exam protocol for responding to domestic violence cases involving strangulation. The Non-Fatal Strangulation Assessment Pilot Program began on May 1 and F.A.I.T.H.

County receives significant rainfall last weekend

The expression goes that it’s “raining cats and dogs” outside and that certainly was the case last weekend as Rabun County received significant amounts of rainfall. The Germany Valley National Weather Service Cooperative Observation Station recorded 9.
