School board holds second public hearing for HB 581 comments from citizens

Citizens provided their input about the intent of the Rabun County Board of Education to opt out of the HB 581 Homestead Exemption during the second public hearing on Monday, Jan. 27.

RCWSA, local fire services working in tandem on fire hydrant logging system

New Rabun County Assistant Fire Chief Dalton Freeman is working with the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) on developing a universal numbering system for identifying and logging in a spreadsheet every fire hydrant in the county for information and maintenance.

Rabies Update in District 2 Public Health: Protect yourself and your pets

There have been two recent accounts of rabies in District 2. On Jan. 8, a raccoon in Franklin County tested positive for rabies after a dog was exposed. A second case on Jan. 13 involved a raccoon that tested positive in Dawson County and exposed two dogs and their owner to the virus.
