‘There’s Hope for the Hungry’

Everyone can use a little bit of hope. That hope can come in many different forms, including through food distributions in Rabun County. “There’s Hope for the Hungry” is an organization based out of Cumming, Ga.

Say ‘Bye’ to 2024 & ‘Hello’ to 2025

The Year 2024 was filled with many newsworthy events. City governments saw new council members and police chiefs; the City of Clayton and Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA) closed on water and sewer consolidation; and the Dillard family sold The Dillard House Inn and Restaurant.

Clayton Rotary Foundation donates $6,200 to support American Legion for food distribution

The Clayton Rotary Club Foundation recently donated $6,200 to American Legion Post 220 to support the Food Distribution Program. This Food Distribution Program works with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia to help distribute food to those in need throughout the year.

Branch honored for leading Georgia Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee

MACON, Ga. – Rabun County Farm Bureau (RCFB) member Stephanie Harden Branch was recognized during the 87th Annual Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Convention held Dec. 8-10 on Jekyll Island for chairing the GFB Women’s Leadership Committee the past year.

New Orleans Sugar Bowl postponed amid terrorist attack on Bourbon Street; rescheduled for Jan. 2

NEW ORLEANS — Pregame jubilation and anticipation was abruptly displaced with horror and safety concerns in New Orleans prior to the 91st Allstate Sugar Bowl as a pickup smashed through a city street filled with New Year's partiers, killing 15 and injuring others.

There’s no place like home. That’s something that one family knows all too well after finding out that their furry friend, a cat named “Rutherford B. Cat,” was found in Rabun County, Ga., almost 11-and-a-half years after going missing in June 2013 from Stoughton, Wis.

Mountain City, Tiger approve 2025 budgets

Council members from the City of Mountain City and Town of Tiger recently approved their FY 2025 budgets. Both cities have a Fiscal Year of January-December. City of Mountain City The City of Mountain City approved the 2025 budget in the amount of $336,209 at the Dec. 10 council meeting.

This past week, Santa Claus delighted the Mountain Lakes Medical Center community with a spectacular visit. Making quite the entrance, Santa arrived in a flash of excitement, his helicopter adorned with festive red and green Christmas lights.
