Sky Valley introduces new police chief

The Sky Valley Police Department will be seeing a new chief in town as Tim Wallis was introduced during Tuesday’s special called council meeting. Wallis as well as his wife, Avie, were welcomed guests during the meeting.

Sky Valley approves millage rate rollback, no tax increase for residents

Sky Valley residents will not be seeing a property tax increase for next year as council members passed the rollback millage rate of 9.609 mills at Tuesday’s special called meeting. City officials discussed that a millage rate requiring a tax increase of 14.

Rabun BOE cuts ribbon on The Wildcat Clinic

Students now have the opportunity to take care of their basic health needs on school grounds as Rabun County Schools has a new partnership with Mountain Lakes Medical Center for the school-based health clinic, The Wildcat Clinic. The clinic opened Oct.

Cause of Clayton fire under investigation

The cause of a structure fire in the area of Doug Bleckley Lane on Nov. 9 is being investigated by the Georgia State Fire Marshal. Rabun County Fire Services Stations 2, 1 and 8 dispatched for a structure fire in the area of Doug Bleckley Lane in Clayton at 6:40 p.m.

HEMC linemen win big at International Lineman’s Rodeo
